Michael Bennett is a public servant, small business owner, decorated combat veteran, and community leader with a lifetime of service—on the battlefield, in government, in business, and right here in Calvert County.
For nearly three decades, Michael served in the U.S. Coast Guard, leading response operations to manmade and natural disasters across the United States and deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. As Senior Defense Official in Haiti, he delivered humanitarian aid, rebuilt critical infrastructure, and led when lives and entire communities were on the line.
After his military service, Michael continued his leadership across government and the intelligence community before moving into the private sector, where he guided global security and crisis response operations for thousands of people worldwide. He has led at the highest levels of both a major tech company and as a small business owner—giving him unique insight into the challenges facing Maryland families and the businesses that power our local economy.
Here at home, Michael has lived in Calvert County for more than a decade. He serves on his local HOA Architectural Committee, is a member of American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206, and serves on the Board of Governor's at the Calvert Marine Museum.
Over the last four years, families across Calvert County have felt the squeeze of rising costs for gas, groceries, transportation, and taxes—while facing declining access to quality healthcare and high energy costs.
That’s why Michael is running for the Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) in District 3. His campaign is about restoring trusted leadership, common-sense solutions, and a commitment to service. He will put people—not politics—first, ensuring every family in our community has the opportunity to thrive. Michael’s mission is to make Calvert County work better for families for a more prosperous future.
